Introduction
The Retrofit Project is a Planet People initiative with an ambition to accelerate the process of carefully retrofitting poor performing buildings in the uk.
The Problem
Human activity is having a huge negative impact on the earth and its environment. There are many things we need to do to try and reverse the damage we’re doing.
The Solution
One of the things we urgently need to do is reduce the energy demand on the national grid to help meet our net zero carbon goals. To do this, we need to reduce the demand on the grid by retrofitting our existing buildings. This means adding insulation, updating heating systems, improving air tightness, adding mechanical ventilation and updating single glazing windows on older, energy inefficient buildings.
How do we do this?
We will do this through education, activism, fundraising and retrofitting buildings. We have set up some initiatives to help achieve these goals.
Retrofitting Tower Hamlets
This is an initiative to retrofit all buildings in Tower Hamlets with an energy efficiency of D or less as soon as possible.
Warm Winters
Poorly insulated buildings mean that expensive heating is needed in the winter that many can’t afford. Many vulnerable and older people suffer in these conditions. This is an initiative to raise money to help retrofit homes for the most vulnerable in society who might not be able to afford heating in the winter.
Can Art Save The World?
This is an initiative to raise money for a retrofit fund, through art, NFT’s, games and artist collaborations. More information coming soon.
Public Information
We will aim to provide the public with easy to understand educational material on retrofit and point them to all the excellent information that is already out there on the subject. We will also aim to help connect them with the right people to carry out their retrofit projects.
