Wapping Wharf Apartment
Set within a conservation area and housed in a beautifully converted warehouse in Wapping, this refurbishment embraces the character of the building’s original fabric while reshaping the apartment for modern living. The design reimagines the home for its new owners, preserving its historic qualities yet bringing clarity and purpose to the layout. At the heart of the transformation, the main living space is opened up to celebrate expansive views of the River Thames, with bespoke window seats carved into the deep reveals of the existing openings to create quiet, contemplative spaces along the façade.
The proposal introduces a more efficient and contemporary layout while preserving the building’s industrial spirit. A new utility room and a snug create purposeful secondary spaces, while the kitchen increases in size and presence at the heart of the home. The master bedroom is reoriented to gain views of the river, while all bedrooms gain their own en-suite facilities, complemented by a separate WC and a more coherent entrance hall arrangement. A dedicated gym space is also incorporated, responding to the clients’ brief.
